Do you just mod the hell out of your standard lighting, or are there special high wattage output lights available where you live?

I want to turn my 35 gallon into a planted tank. At the moment, its got something like 0.5 wpg. Even if I did add an extra light, and boosted them both i would only get 2wpg and thats still a pain in the ass to do (fan and cooling). Yet people here have 3, 4 sometimes even 6. Do these people just have the money? Or some nice tricks up their sleeves?

When i had my 35 galon tank, I made my own hood, and built a fixture that held 2 30 watt bulbs.

Now in this tank, again, I made my own hood and I have a compact power fixture with 4 55 watt bulbs.

Mines a two and a half foot though, its just tall. Im not sure if i can get 30w bulbs, but how much do they cost you?

Hmmm. That makes it more complicated. The fixture i bought was 36" you might want to get soemthing like this-a ballast kit. this one is pricey... but I'm sure you can find something for less somewhere. With that you could stager some 21" ones to fill out the sace more.

That light is for saltwater tank. The light should be 6700 K
