So I was needing decorations for my 125 and my 54 corner bow.
I went to a local gardening landscaping depot place.

I brought a 44qt rubber maid container with me to put the stuff in.
I got 6 large pieces of broke slate for the loach tank and nearly 100 lbs of river rock.

After taxes I walked out with a bill for $12.68

can't beat that pricing

Heres what I picked up for my $12.78

except for the playsand

and these now mind you those are bigger than they appear in the picture some are as big as 12"

Way to go sky. If I were to buy those rocks at any place around here I would be paying a couple hundred dollars.

Find a landscaping place.

my LFS charges $3.99/lbs for slate the lansscaping place charges $0.25/lb.

the river rock is even cheaper.

All that river rock was actually $8 which is probably about $0.10/lbs......actually they sell by the cubic yard or by the ton so they just come up with an arbitrary cheap number for the 30 or so rocks I actually take.

The first time I went there with a 5G bucket they asked for $3 cash and called it a day.

Ty First thing this morning im gunna go out to get some but do they have anything a little bit better?

Actually my local place had LOTS of different types of rock.

But since I'm going with natural sand bottom in my 125G and large cichlids I just sorta wanted some basic roundish river rocks.

They had lots of various broken slate. The river rock actually are lots of various colorings you just can't tell sine they're dirty. Also various forms of granite and such.

If you can find a nice landscaping place(not like home depot or lowes since they all sell stuff thats been formed like concrete block)

It's not hard to find some attractive pieces.

I'll take some pics after the stuff is all cleaned and boiled you'll see the coloration better then.

I'll post pics once I get them cleaned.
I'm doing the LONG process of washing and boling right now actually

I think bleach is a heck of alot easier then boiling them I really like how my rocks turned out after the bleach
