Wow, That Was Quick

I had a bit of a move around in my tanks this weekend, moved my Limia Tridens over to the community tank, and invested in some Peacock Gudgeon (aka Peacock Gobies) - the first entry (which was never verified) in the October FotM comp was one of these, when I saw the photo, I decided that I wanted some.

These have to be the perfect fish - small enough for even my little tank, colourful as any cichlid, peaceful, relatively easy-going water-wise, and apparently easy to spawn.

Didn't realise quite how easy they would be!

When I got them home, I noticed one of the females with a very yellow abdomen, which is (so I have read) a sign of being in spawning condition - I've not conditioned them in any way, they've only been home for 3 or 4 hours, and they wouldn't have had any conditioning at the LFS.

So yesterday afternoon, I took a quick trip to Homebase, bought some plastic pipe, cut off 4 small lengths, and popped them in.

Not 2 hours later, I notice one of the males fussing about in front of one of the pipes, took a quick look in there, and there's a female inside.

RESULT!

TLM is a happy bunny!

If this conversation were taking place on the football forum which I also frequent, I would use a completely different Smiley. As it is, with the family-friendly range on offer to me, I will have to make do with this

Well, maybe not that easy to spawn.

All 4 fish were together in the tank earlier - if they'd spawned, the male would be guarding and fanning the eggs. Unless he's forgotten that he has to, he is a bloke after all!

I'll have to wait til I get home, and have a look up the pipe (oo-er!), see if I can see any eggs with the lights being on.
