Would a tank 48" in length by 24" in width by 24" in height be big enough for 1 oscar?

Thanks.

Yeah, that should be fine size-wise. Is it that 100g in your sig? It wouldn't work with those tankmates if so..

Thanks for the reply, no it's not for the 100g in my signature, i'm considering getting a tank 48" X 24" X 24" just for one oscar on its own.

sorry to hijack your post. I'm interested in keeping oscars. This tank size, how many would you be able to keep. I've seen a tank similar in size. What would be a safe amount to pt in.

One is the only "safe" amount. The only way to keep multiple oscars is to either get a breeding pair or a very, very large tank but getting a pair isn't easy and means getting 6 or so young ones and growing them up until a pair forms, then return the rest. A 180g tank would probably be a minimum for that. You should check out the pinned oscar thread in the new world cichlid forum if you haven't already.
