i saw this on e bay and thought it would make an awesome center peice!
but would it be ok?wood

£55 incl P&P....I would not pay that...I seen plenty of good wood in my LFS, you just need to keep checking as it tends to sell quick. I got a piece that size but a different shape for £12

i was thinking of picking it up might be cheaper plus make a day of it!?

A swallow aquatics branch near Thetford, a place called East Harling

They had some (still had some a couple of weekends back) of varying shapes and sizes, for me it's worked out well too because I am getting nice tannins released (even after soaking for 6 weeks before use) which works well in my slowly progressing south american theme...alright it wasn't oak but is good wood that my BN plec loves to chew on

wish my lfs sold wood that size! being looking ages for a good bit of wood but i would not pay that for it

For a piece as specific and unusual as that the price is a little bit irrelevant. If it's just the right bit of wood for you, at a price you can afford, then go for it.

As I understand it Oak is fine in aquaria. Will almost certainly need a good bit of soaking. By the sound of the listing it is pretty dry at the moment.

i wouldnt.. its not saying ( not that i can see) that he found it in water.. MHA sell gorgeous oak for £14 a kg.. go there least you know what your getting thats just my opinion tho and it usually counts for little or nothing

I have been told to use matt varnish on wood thats not intended for tank use,bit risky tho if there were plecs rasping on it tho
