Would Like To Upgrade

Okay, so the title pretty much sums it all up. I am currently running a 20 gallon community tank and would love to expand to maybe a 75 gallon or larger but I am afrad that the usage of the new and more powerful filter lights etc... will use more electricty.
Can anyone give me the skinny on this? Does the usage jump or will it not even matter? My relative have a 55 gallon and he says it uses up a lot of energy as well.?

it will use more electricity but won't cost much more than you're paying now

Well; I pay between £15 and £20 a week, but I have a teenage son who has his PC and his TV on nearly all the time, as well as six tanks, four of which are 200l+ with external filters, so it's going to well under a fiver a week.

agreed , i run a 120g and a 30g and the weekly cost is not high

To calculate how much it costs to run the aquarium, do the following for each piece of equipment:
wattage of appliance * number of hours it is on for per day * 30 days in a month / 1000 = kwh used per month

..then add that up for the heater, filter, lights, etc. I usually assume that filter is on for 24 hours per day, lights on for 6-10 hours, a 1 watt per litre of aquarium water heater is on for 10 hours. The price you pay per kwh is probably on your electricity bill.
