its a hit or a miss with male bettas some are ok but some arent.

they might be ok for a while then it turns bad.

u are far better to keep it in a tank on its own and dont need a big tank either.

hmm...its in a 12L tank at the mo,but theres no light so i cant see him properly,my main tank is 160L which im sure he'd appreciate lots of room, but my angels (6) have been in there AGES and they may get annoyed theres a newbie?

no em, he wont appreciate the big tank, they are used to smaller tanks,( feel a bit insecure in larger tanks) and like rockunurworld says, they really are the sort of fish that you have to try to find out,he may well be ok but then again if he has been on his own it would be a shame to move him... if it aint broke.. dont fix it

have you not got a small desk lamp you can put near the tank?? really will be better than moving him

they genrally are solitary fish

they arent great swimmers and the increased flow from the filter on your bigger tank would give him a hard time too

ooh, thats an idea.... must find lamp, must find lamp....

umm... sort of going off subject i have a tank a little bit bigger than the one its currently in (ive only just brought him) it has a proper lid and a light! but it currently has a pealscale...so would swapping tanks be a good idea? the CW fish would downgrade slightly to a 12L, is that pushing it a bit?

I'll never have a male Betta in my community tank again. Keep trying them when I see a really nice one in the LFS shop but he always gets his fins torn. They heal then next day are torn again. Think it's my angel so no, don't keep one with angels. Loaches should be fine.
