Keep shrimp with betta's?

I was hoping to start a small tank for my females and was thinking of a few cory's and shrimp with them. Would this work?

Yes it should work fine. Make sure to have plenty of Java moss and Riccia for the shrimp to hide in. The smallest ones may get munched on but adults should be fine.

Watch the bettas very carefully with the shrimp one of mine seem to like nothing better than chasing them down and removing their eyes for a tasty snack but some bettas may not be so ruthless.

Larger shrimp like Ghost shrimp will be less likely to be eaten or picked at than small ones like cherries and bee shrimp.

The shrimp that my betta picked the eyes off was an adult ghost shrimp, I think what attracted it was it's darker eyes, they were kind of the same size as the betta pellets I feed I've also had snails harrassed to death by my bettas so not much is kept with them now but as they are all different it won't hurt to try but perhaps only put one shrimp in there at a time to guage the bettas reaction.

But I wouldn't recommend one at a time - thats kind of signing its death warrant lol

I have shrimp with my female betta sorority - I actually have 32 and never see one! - but there doesn't seem to be any issues. Saying that though, my females ddn't even attempt to eat the 14 newly born guppy fry....

I keep my male betta with RCS and bee shrimp. also snails. I've never had a problem with them but know that my previous betta would have harassed anything kept with him.
