Would A Newt Eat Guppy Fry?

Im thinking about getting a newt and i have some questions:
-Would they be able to live in a tropical fish tank?
-Would they eat guppy fry and amano shrimp?
-What temp do they need if they cant cope with the average temp of tropical tank?

I'm sure I've heard that newts aren't tropical. They need cooler water, so I would say they wouldn't go in that tank.

Also, is it the ten litre tank you're on about?? then I would definitely say no way, as you would already be waaaaaaaaaay overstocked for that tank.
