Hi all,
I'm planning to upgrade to a bigger tank. The idea is to get something big enough for my 1 Black Ghost Knife fish and 2 Clown Loaches as they get bigger. The biggest my family room space and budget will allow is the Aqua One R2-120 which is 285 litres. Is that going to be big enough? The tank is 123 cm wide (approx 48 inches).

Thanks!

In short no.

But 285 litres is a good size tank and considering the growth rates of the fish in question will make a good home for them for quite a few years to come.

No doubt people are going to jump down your throat quoting max sizes of these fish but what they dont bring in to consideration is the time it will take for the fish to reach this size.

There is a chap on Monster Fish forums with a 26" BGK and rather splendid it is too :D

Thanks for your responses :). My LFS has Clown Loaches that are 13 years old, and they're still probably only half their full grown size, even though they are in huge tanks. If this tank lasts me 8 years or something, I would be happy with that. Actually, in the time that I've had my Clown Loaches and Black Ghost, they have been growing very slowly. I wish I could say the same for the Bristle Nose Catfish. From what I've read, those Clown Loaches could outlive me, and I'm in my 30s. I'll have to put them in my will :).
