Worm Infestation

Hi,

My zebra danios have worms I bought a treatment (aqua master, fluke and tapeworm tablets) (I'm in Australia by the way)


Anyway today will be 48 hours into the treatment and a 25% water change is recommended, but last night one of the danios had a worm coming out his bum...

Is this a sign that the treatment is working? Or a sign that it hasn't worked at all?

Any ideas?

I've already lost 2 fish prior to treatment. One was VERY bloated and then died. The other was skinny.

I'm new to all this.

Nope. They are long white worms (like around 10mm long) with a kinda frilly end. Very yucky.

These are new fish and must have been infested when I bought them

My betta has that, what are they? I'm running a course of worm stuff at the moment.

It may not be worms, it could be that your fish need some vegetable matter in their feed. You could try boiling a few peas for a couple of minutes, remove the skin and mash with a fork, I turn my filter off for an hour and remove anything thats uneaten after that. This is where a good feeding routine can be useful, my fish are conditioned to being fed just after lights on and in the same place in the tank, makes visual inspection easier too

Callamanus Worms.

very bad ones.. google it and see how bad r they..


sera nematol is the only medicine will gives you 100% success rate..


and its very strong medicine .. so be careful with dosage and directions.

the worms I've seen are WHITE, not red. So maybe not

Any ideas what a white worm would be, not quite as nasty I hope...

there is a long list of internal parasites. Difficult to say exactly what type of worm without more description or better yet a pic.
In any case, if you are seeing the fish passing the worms that is generally a very good sign (the worms are dying internally and being pooped out).

I thought it was...but I couldn't find anything to deal with it. Thanks for the suggestion. At the moment, i'm using a discus wormer...i'm only a few days in, so i'll see how it goes.

I feed them peas. The mollies love them, but the zebra danios don't.

I lost the 2 that seemed sick, the littlest one that expelled the worm and another one that stopped eating ages agao.

5 zebras left. They all seem healthy so far, fingers crossed. One worm dose of worm treatment to go.......
