so i've done the part where add the drops and shake until it changes to the necessary colours.

my KH used 10 drops which is 10° which is 179ppm KH/GH

my GH used 17 drops which is 17° which is 304.3ppm KH/GH

So now what do you do, add them up?

No, they are 2 different things.

The KH is carbonate (sometimes called temporary) hardness which is minerals in the water which you can remove by boiling (hence temporary!).

The GH is general hardness, which is minerals that can't be removed by boiling.
