Hi all,

I'm worried about my new red tail, i've had him/her(???) about a week now and I've never seen him eat!! I've been feding the rest of the tank on flake and frozen blood worm and the rest just scoff it down. The RTS just seems to hide in the bottom of the tank in the ornaments i've got in there. The rest of the tank is 4 barbs, 3 swordtails, 2 mollies, a dwarf gourami and a bristlenose, so I didn't expect a RTS to act like this.

Any advice (water conditions are closely monitored and are good)

I wouldn't get too worried about it mate, new additions to the tank sometimes take a lot longer than 1 week to become fully accustomed to their new lifestyle. I'd try feeding just before lights out (it's probably more active and searching for food at night) and maybe adding a few more ornaments and even plants that will make your RTS feel more secure. Alternatively you could invest in some sort of sinking pellet foods so that the food will not be eaten before it reaches the shark.

You'll probably eventually find that once it's lost it's initial timidness, your red tailed black shark will be the bully of the tank...

yes my rtbs did exactly this then was the bully, until my betta bullied him and he died :(
he will be fine i suspect just keep a watchful eye on him
good luck :)
