Just hooked up a Fluval FX5 to me 92 gallon low tech planted tank....this thing is a monster. Got the outflow coming out of the midddle back corner, and the whole tank is getting water movement. I can't see a single dead spot. Bad news...I don't think discus could every handle this amount of flow, though me large angel is right in the middle of the tank, hovering effortlessly. IS this too much filtration?

what type of set up?
if its a high tech tank, ie:- high light, pressurized co2 then teh "recommended" tank flow is around 10x
if the tank is low tech then this factor is not quite so important!

you will currently have about 5x flow, which may be fine, if you think its too much for the fish you plan to keep however, the addition of a spray bar may be something to consider.

The angelfish is looking quite fatigued. I upped the flow to the bubble disc and added some antistress chems. I hope he is going to be OK....

Your fish will agjust to it. I had a betta go from no water movment to a normal tank set up. For the first week he had a hard time but the excercise did him good and now he has no problem with some water curant. Your fish should be fine but the discus might get stressed they are not hardy fish. I would ask some people on the NW cichilds page about how much water movment is to much for these fish.
