I was going to work this morning and I was looking in my tank and low and behold I had a baby molly. I put it in a fry net for now (since I wasn't prepared for babies yet :p) But I'm just so happy that he survived the day without it :0. I know it's not hard to get mollys to mate, but I'm just so happy over my little success and wanted you all to know :),

Not that I have seen I imagine that the other one's (If there were any) didn't make it.... So I was reading about fry cages and such and I have a pretty large one and since it's just one do you all think it would be fine in there untill I can release him into the tank?

Congrats Carl. If you have a big breeding trap, the fry will be OK in it for at least a couple of weeks. If you have only mollies in the tank, it will not be long before that fry will be OK in the main tank. When I put my female in a separate birthing tank, I noticed that she was doing well and some of the fish in the tank she came from were not. I decided that I wanted to make sure it was safe before returning her, but in the meantime she gave birth. I now have about 30 molly fry in the tank with her and they have been together for their first 10 days of life. The female is well fed and the fry are growing quickly so I figure I could leave her with them until they are full grown. The questionable community tank is starting to look better and I am not seeing any disease in it so it may have been a false alarm. If it still looks OK in a couple more weeks she will be returned to the big tank to give the fry more room to grow but mollies in general are not much threat to their own fry.

I never even try to name them. By the time they are big enough to tell apart and name, they are starting to become crowded and most be sold or given away. I usually don't save any but decided that my female looked good enough to be worth the effort. Now I will need to decide which ones to keep.
