Hi guys,
I have set up a tank that will be exclusive to plecos(inc panaque species) and have decorated it with lots of wood. All the wood was bought from various aquatic shops at different times.
I have heard that plecos should have soft wood and panaque species in particular need it as part of their diet but the wood (bogwood or mopani etc) appears anything but soft. I had to saw through one big bit to get it in the tank and it took me absolutely hours and blunted my (admittedly rather cheap) hand saw.
Is this wood okay for their diet or is there a specific type of wood they should have?
Many thanks,
FR
