hey
i've decided to plant my 25g and to do that, i decided to get a CO2 system, and the lighting is very good,
so this is the link to the CO2,any comments on it, and anybody used it before?
CO2 system
its actually quite cheap considering the ones at my lfs cost no less the $100

Hey DD! Thats the one i have my eye on! Considering i dont have one!
Im interested to know if anyone has used this type before too? :)

I was thinking of getting one of these too. Think I need one on a 6 gallon tank that is planted? as for lighting in my suytemno idea if its good or not and it sthe eclipse 6 gallon. The bulb that came with it seems to be a good bulb though.

I have that one, and I've been having nothing but problems. It dropped my ph from 7.4 to 6 overnight, made my water very cloudy. It's been running for about 2 weeks now, and yesterday I noticed that it sucked water back through the tubing AND the check valve.

I have that, no valves or anything, on my 20 gal. So far so good, it brought on pearling and as long as i keep the part of the tube that connects to the cannister above the waterline all is well as far as water seeping back into it.

I also have this system...working fine so far, but have only had it a week. I do have concerns about the water seeping back into the tube, but I will get round to putting a check valve in for extra safety. I don't think it's much different from making your own DIY CO2 system, except it's convenient and I like the bubble diffuser that it comes with.

As for pH dropping, well that's not specifically down to using the nutrafin system. Its down to CO2 and would happen in any case.

I have had two running for 18 months now with no problems at all. The supplies sachets are a rip off. Replace with bread making yeast and bi-carb of soda. The more yeast the higher the output (for less time).

I love my 2L pop bottle CO2...when I make a new batch I raise the bottle above the tank so no water can get into the line while pressure is building up...once I see bubbles I lower the bottle back to the floor...all told I think my CO2 system cost me about 4 dollars for about 3 months worth of co2... :hey:

Can't be answered unless you tell us how much light you have under your hood... I use the same system on my 33G, works like a charm. I think that this system is the most common CO2 system, not including the presurrised ones with regulators and PH controls and the like...

I have had DIY CO2 running on my 400 litre tank for about 5 months now. I wasn't happy with the CO2 dispersal within the tank as I only had the gas bubbling out of an air stone. I bought one of these kits for the diffuser alone. The pH of the tank has dropped to, as far as I can tell, about 6. My test kit isn't that great so I can't tell the exact value.
Anyway, I only noticed the drop because I have just bought 4 inch long angelfish. They are just such great looking fish. Anyway during aclimatisation the floating bag decided it had had enough of floating and promptly sank. So much for a steady water adjustment!
Within an hour it was clear that the fish were struggling. This morning three of them were in bad shape with one having its slime coat peeling off. I have reduced the CO2 system to one 1.5 litre CO2 generator. The fish are looking a bit better. All the original fish are fine, rather active actually! I just think a 1.0 pH drop really shocked the poor new guys.
Anyway, the reason I posted here is to say that these diffusers are REALLY good. very efficient units. I know my water is soft but I didn't expect a 1pH drop in a 400 litre (88 UK gallon) tank with only one unit.

Be warned!

I've used that system for about a month now. No problems whatsoever and plants look great!
