Today we checked out the LFS, rather than Petsmart, to see what they had in stock and how the salespeople were. The store looks like your typical pet store, lots of supplies for cats, dogs, fish, birds and other types of pets.

Great news!! They will take Herbie the algae eater when he outgrows our tank. He recommended a couple of ottos or amano shrimp, both in stock, when we're ready to replace Herbie. He did say not to add anything new to the tank, and to make sure we do regular water changes.

He was actually surprised we haven't lost any fish yet, aside from Kermit.

Guess time will tell on how reputable the shop and salespeople are, so far so good. Right now the name of the shop escapes me, but we'll go there a few times and if they are good we'll put them on the map.

If you can its best to support your local independant fish store, instead of the big chain store companies. In my opinion the independant stores work a lot harder for what they have and are in most cases more knowledgeable. I work in an independant pet store that has been battling Walmart ever since it came here a couple years ago, we are the only petstore left in the whole city. Thankfully there are no chain petstore here (such as petco or petsmart) but if one were to open I don't really want to think about what would happen. Ok I'm done with my speech
