The BiOrb plants are expensive but good quality and look considerably real, if not I'd only really advise live plants as they are more defined, and cheaper. You could get some real low tech live plants that don't require anything, just a bit of sand or gravel.

When you said they were cheaper it just dawned on me that they are. LOL. I just started with my first live plants. They look so much better, I'm sure the fish love it and they are cheaper to boot!

Indeed they are, but you can buy plants that require no attention, can't go wrong....and most old "pet shops" do the old plants for next to night, we are talking "old style plants" but we're also talking a pound compared to £3.50 of the average LFS plants and £8 of plastic plants

Can you give me names of these easy to keep plants??
Java ferns are supposed to be easy. I went to a big box store and got 3 different kinds that they said are super easy to keep, unfortunately I don't know the names. And I am glad there plant advice was much better than there fish keeping advice as all my fish died but my plants are thriving!
Oh and you could get a moss ball. People seem to love those and I know there easy to keep. I've onlynhadnlive plants for a couple weeks and trust me you will never go back to plastics. The look and the way real plants move in the current is awesome !

I buy online at Aqua Essentials... but they do a great job at describing all types of plants and telling you the care they need... so even if you didn't want to buy from them, you can learn about the various plants on their site.

Found the link for you. http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/

I would suggest silk plants rather than plastic plants. They look far better than the plastic ones. I found some on line a few years back where I got over a dozen for very little money, less than $20 US.
