little_mermaid if the spawn goes well you're more then welcome to some babies, but no guarentess this is my first spawn in a loooooooong time! so it might take one or two to get it right

ok you guys were right... No bubblenest in over 24 hours, not even the start of one, and he stopped paying attention to her all together. I was too eager to spawn, they obviously need to be conditioned better. So I pulled the female and put her in her own tank and have started conditioning them some more. Are there any other choice foods besides bloodworms for conditioning? In a few days they should be ready to try again, and the rest of my breeders should be here during the week!

Would be best to condition for a couple of weeks at least. You could try some brineshrimp or I think tubifex is good for conditioning too. We tend to stick to bloodworm and Attisons Betta Pro for conditioning.

Just take your time and I'm sure things will work out next time once they are ready

I use the betta pro for all my bettas feedings and then some extra bw when conditioning, and the once a week pea. though keeping them on a constant diet of the betta pro mine hardly need the bw. also very clean water during the conditioning makes a difference.

even if he was really well conditioned prior to shipping, the shipping takes a hell of a lot out of them. imagine being locked in a space the size of a coffin for days, and then get taken out and be expected to "preform" right away. not happening.
