I have a small number of young mbuna in a 55 gal tank for just over a week now and all has been well. I'd guess that each fish is about 1.25 to 1.5 inches long. I just placed an online order for 6 afra cobue. They are estimated to be about .75 inches. It never occured to me until just now that the cichlids already in the tank may be old enough to eat the new ones. Should I cancel my order? I think there is still time as they have not been shipped yet. Thanks!

I havn't had that trouble with my african community tanks, I found that if they are close in size they are fine. I have even had 3" not bother young fry at around .5". But my advice would be to take out the the current fish, remodel the tank and put all of them back in including your new afra all at the one time.

Ok, let's hope you are right. I don't want to learn an expensive lesson, but I'm going to give it a try.

I knew that I was supposed to rearrange the tank, but didn't realize that I had to actually take the fish out. Thanks for your advice!

I was thinking more of a cichlid that looks like will young... :shifty:

Sorry, i'll get my coat...

OK, that's kinda funny... although I do admit I had to Google Will Young. Don't know if I'm getting old or he hasn't become a big hit in the US yet. (Probably I'm just getting old)
