ok so i havent been able to find a 5ft tank with lid.

ive not been quoted properly for a 5ft new tank but know its over £120. but for a hood ive been quoted 130. as it has to be wood.

so what i was thinking for my plant only tank....

i have a 2ft and 3ft tank. i will put them together although the two foot is 12inches back and the the 3ft is 15inch back.

im thinking...i could get a metal 4ft by 15inch hood and stick it on. it might sort of balance on somehow. there will be compact lighting to make about 4-5wpg.

does it matter that the hood doesnt fit? because it being compact lighting?

ok ive found a 5ftx30inchx30inch that im hoping il win on ebay!

is there anyway of making a lid yourself? i.e stick some laminated wood over the top and screw a light unit underneath?

i dont need it to look attractive.

plus is a compact light ok or do i need some kind of reflectors then
