Will This Work?

just bought my first ever aquarium its a 21 gallon fluval, trying to decide what fish i want. Will this combination of fish work well? or if you think i could change or add something please let me know..

bulldog pleco
corys albino and panda x 4
neon tetra x 6
dwarf gourami x 2

Suggestion. Why not choose a pair of Dwarf cichlids like Apistogramma over the Gourami's? Then your tank will be filled with fish all from South America. Plus, Apistogramma's are beautiful. My male is in my signature below.

i wasnt sure if dwarf cichlids were a possibility that would be cool

tank dimensions Size 800mm wide, 400mm tall, 300mm deep

looks good apart from the 2 dwarf gouramis

2 x males = fighting (most likely)
1 x male + 1 x female = male harrassing the female constantly (most likely)
2 x female = I guess you dont like the relatively drab silver colour of the females?

1 would be fine on its own though.

yes youre right i only wanted the brightly coloured males but james has offered a better alternative so i think ill get 2 dwarf cichlids and a couple more corys.

bristle nose plecs only grow 5 inches but it depends what kinda coloration you want on the fish

the only thing I would add would be to consider where you want your fish to swim (if asthetics are that important to you)

Corys - predominantly on the floor
Neons - mid water
Dwarf cichlids - bottom 1/3 of the tank

so you wont have much activity at the top.

Dwarf gouramis tend to prefer the top 1/2 of the tank, so they might even the activity levels out a little better.

But from my experience, dwarf cichlids have much more personality.....so it's very much a personal choice.

My bulldogs are quite happy on their own,
Prob my fav of all plecos. Although nuggets, snowballs etc have amazing color and patterns, These guys have real character compared to some of the other shyer plecs
One of mine loves to chase the corys all over the tank, And lets baby bristlenose plecs sit on his back, Also one has a real thing for getting right up to the water line when the lights go off and splashing like made!
Freaks my cat right out! lol
