Hi, i am fairly new to this hobby and have done a lot of research to help me to provide the best living enviroments for the future tropical fish that are going to be in my tank. However, i was just womdering whether the following stock levels would be ok for a ten gallon tank > i would love to have 6 neon tetras (please state if i can have more) and a suitable amount of corys (please tell me the amount of cory catfish and what species). Thanks in advance.

ps. i do like peppered corys :D so how many of them, if any ?

WEedlcome to the foirum JordM.
Once you get a fully cycled tank, not one that has just sat for a few days, you can easily have your neons along with maybe 4 or 5 Corydoras habrosus or another similar sized catfish. Unfortunately, the local fish shop, LFS, will be unlikely to guide you through a proper fishless cycle. Here on the forum, we generally believe that a fishless cycle is a better approach than a few hardy fish like they will probably recommend. There is a link to fishless cycling in the beginners resource center or you can use the link in my signature area to get to the fishless cycling thread.

Yes, doing your homework and reading the Nitrogen Cycle, Fishless Cycling and Fish-In Cycling articles in our Beginners Resource Center will be a great start so you can ask questions before you proceed too far too fast. A lot of us really love neons/cards so we'll be able to help a lot with those. OM47's suggestion about the little corys is great too, as you could be entertained by them during the longer period you'll need to wait before the water is ready for the neons. Fishless cycling is the way to go and doing it interactively with the members here is a lot of fun, getting you off to a good start.

Welcome to TFF!
