here let me calculate for ya: ( i am assuming 29 gal US)

2 Bolivian Rams- 2" x 2 = 4"
6 Three-Lined Corydoras- 2" x 6 = 12"
3 Cherry Barbs- 2" x 3 = 6"
2 Dwarf Gourami- 2.5" x 2 = 5"
8 harlequin rasbora- 1.5" x 8 = 12"

total: 39"

i would say to go with...

*this would make for a better stocking option and give you more room in the tank for your other fish.*

Ill go with 2 cherry barbs and 6 harlequins, no problem! But I dont think the 1 inch rule is good...also, Bolivian Rams get to 3 inches!

I'm going with the second option you showed me, that option appeals to me.
