My question is will a pond pump push the water uphill to around 5 feet?

I can't use a python on my tap but I am in the process of using a wheelie bin to move my water to the fish tanks, I found this very easy but will find it easier if I insert a pump in the bin to pump the water out in to the tank.

I tried it today using the bin to take the water out but if I can also use it to take the water in it will be great, so this is why I need a pump.

If look on the box it will tell you max litres at different heights, just choose one that suit's your needs.

Thanks, I thought I would ask on here first, I might have a look tomorrow, it is more the height I want really, I'm not to bothered about it pumping fast or does that come in to it, the more volume it pumps the higher it will pump?

The bigger the pump the greater the volume, which then reduces as the height increases. Wouldn't think you'd want one to big though.

Have you considered a caravan water pump? runs on 12 volts and can shift a fair amount of water, also lifts up to 6 ft in the shower. Just a thought!

I did look at ordinary water pumps and saw some that run on 12 volts but then I would need 12 volts to run it or get a power reducer or something.

car battery or leisure battery, or an old transformer as used on train sets, scalextric etc.

I just bought a pond pump off Ebay £15.00 that pumps to 71" so that should do the trick... I hope lol.
