Will A Fluval External Fit To A Juwel Tank?

Afternoon!

I'm looking at getting a 2nd hand juwel and I'm wondering if the pipes on my fluval 305 external will fit nicely in the slots in the rear of a juwel? From photos it looks possible but I can't find the dimensions of those slots anywhere. Anyone done the same?

also, can you completely remove the internal from a juwel? They appear to be well attached but I'd rather remove and run externals instead.

yeah I know they can be removed, but just want to make sure that they are wide enough to take the fluval pipes......I'm 99% sure they would but just want to be certain before buying.

I took my juwel internal out a few months ago and fit an eheim 2213 if thats any help? theres plenty of room, i could probably fit another set of pipes through there.

To get the internal out, get a sharp, long knife and just wiggle it through the silicone. Took me a good 45 minutes to get it all off and theres still loads left on the glass but thats because i cant be bothered scraping the rest of it off

Be aware of the amount of gunk thats will be behind the filter, and keep your face away from it!!

i have a 305 on my juwel 240 and its fine, although my tank might be a little older as its had the pipe slots cut out with a hacksaw and the lids snipped a little. doesnt bother me much though.

I did not know that they were fitted with silicon, so that's good to know....and a bit disappointing. Is it only on the rear or also on the side glass?

I thought you were talking about the rear pipe access that could be removed, not the filter.

Yes i think its silicone anyway, big blobs of it, ill email you a pic if you want of what it looks like?

It's on the rear and side, if you look at the filter casing, you can see fo0ur (i think i had four) blobs of black between the filter and glass. They look like suckers. It's easy enough to get off I just couldnt be bothered!
