Well, I was browsing at the LFS and I *just happened* to pass by the feeder guppies... so I decided to buy 2 males to keep my girls happy. :D ...and a ghost shrimp... hehehe... Here is a pic of the larger male (I love his tail!):

Here is a pic of one of the females (they all look the same):

they're sooo pretty!!
i am looking for some noew to keep my one lonely little male company!!!

Lovely guppies.

I have a question... is the female in the picture pregnant? I have noticed that she has this black spot growing inside her. (You can kinda see it in the pic.) At first I thought it was a black dot on her body, but it's not and it's getting bigger and so is her stomach. What do you think? :dunno:

She is pregnent.Nice male there

Yay! Baby guppies... um... what do I feed them? :p There are lots of plants in there, and a huge mass of java moss growing on a piece of driftwood... so maybe they can hide in that. I have some livebearer fry food that I bought for some molly fry I had a while back... would this work? I don't have time to hatch brine shrimp... :/ so I'll just have to wait and see if any of the fry survive. :-(

I just adore the larger male... he is sooooo handsome! He's finally overcome his shyness and now he "shows off" for me, swimming up and down the front of the tank. Little begger! He knows I have to feed him 'cause he's just to cute!

It kind of looks like a premature male to me. Very rarely do you ever see color on a feeder female. Anyone else think it might be a male?

your male is really cute! i tried to do the same thing, buy a feeder guppy with some nice coloring. he's pretty cute. i got him a friend but he's rather plain.

Actually, it can't be a male, because it lacks a gonopodium. (Hope I spelled that right... :*) ) The females don't really have any color, but now that I've got them healthy and conditioned, their scales are soooo shiny!   A little Melafix, Hikari flakes, freeze dried bloodworms, and smashed peas can work wonders! :D

Feed them bbs and luquifry ..... More than likely she is pregnant .... Endlers recieve color right around or even before they are sexual mature and if it desn't have a gen (w/e it's called) It is a female .... More than likely she has some standard fancy guppy in with her and coloration could be from that .... Feeders are commonly mixed (Ex. endler and guppy mix) ... The ghost shrimp will not "hunt" your fish but will feed on them post mortality ....

I love feeder guppies. They are so hardy. They live in my tank without a heater. Their favorite food is live Tubiflex worm and brine shrimp. My half dozen females have produced over 100 fry (I lost count) since I got them in May. :D

Hi - cool colors! It's nice to know that not all "feeders" end up eaten! I have just recently started my first aquarium. So far there are 8 feeder guppies and plants. I'm trying to establish a model ecosystem in my classroom using a 10 gal river tank insert. I'd like to get a shrimp or crawdad for the shallow side so it can eat any dead fish. However, I'm concerned that the NH3 levels will rise if the dead fish remain long enough to be eaten. Any advice?
