Hi all. I'm really stupid, so I'm wondering: If a pregnant guppy dies, perhaps close to birth, can you cut into her when shes dead, and try to release the babies yourself?

I tried it with my molly before. It doesn't work. The second she dies they start suffocating and the acid inside her stomach will kill them.

If you see her Die then yes u can.

But if she been dead a while it's pointless like Krib12 says.
Also if the fry are too young they also will not survive to well.

No, but the soon die as the oxygen is no longer passed through to the fry.

i think what he means is if you see it die that second or quickly you could do it and it would work, but if you cut to deep you would stab the babies.and if the mollie of fish "guppy" was due that day or really soon otherwise it would be pointless because you would have undevloped babies but...that is a very very good question i have thought of but never come around to asking but yes its not something i would do personaly but hey if its dead its dead go for it!! :good: :good: :hyper: :hyper:
