Had my red cherry shrimp for about 2-3 months, as far as I can tell I've got 1 male and 3 females. All have deep colours and seem fine. The tank is planted and has redmoor wood and rocks with a gravel substrate. Why are they not breeding? :-( I check the females for eggs regularly but they are never carrying.

Water parameters:
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 20-40ppm
pH: 7.6

EDIT:
Temperature is 24*C / 78*F

i had the same problem. until i moved them into a bigger tank but also there was a temp increase from 1 tank to the other it might be that

My temp at the moment is 24*c is that ideal?
i'll measure what it is in my tank. in the first it was 21*C and in there new tank its 31... thats actually a little high for my liking but the females have eggs under them now. and dident at the lower temp.

mine were not breeding for 2-3 months until i moved tanks 20L to 70L and with the increase of heat. it could be either of them but the females were carrying eggs within a week of the new tank...

31 seems a little high? The bloke at the store said they breed in they're tanks which where the same temp as mine but smaller in size and not as many plants. I dunno about the pH. At the moment they're in a 50L, I have got some in my 95L but they look pretty young and I can't see them half the time so I can't really compare

31 is a little high i'll take it down to the 23-6 soon i don't know about PH either i cant think it would make that bigger difference. do they have saddle's?

Can't see as they're fully opaque

Cherry shrimp will tolerate temps over 30 degrees cel but its not ideal, they already have a quick life cycle and added heat seems to speed it up.
