Why Isnt There Algae Growth?

ive had my 4ft tank set up for at least 2 months now and there is no sign of any algae. it was the same in my smaller 2ft tank, no bloomin algae. some people would love for it never to appear and they get loads. my plecos would love it.

what are the main reasons for it not to grow?


my lights are on for 8-10 hours a day, i do a 25% water change weekly and water stats are as they should be.

You need ammonia, over feed for a few days so that ammonia levels rise (not so that they're detectable, just a little unreadable ammonia will trigger algae, you could try running your lights for 16 hours straight for a week.
