i have no idea whats wrong with me fish

today, every now and again (think its happened about 4 times since this morning) it suddenly darts to the top of the tank, flips in and out of the water splashing does a lap of the tank doing that then goes back into the water looking like its about to die - swimming on its side, upside down etc. then it will swim into the tank glass 2 or 3 times and then swims away normally

looking at it now you wouldnt know anything was wrong

so why is it doing this??

hehe you should go to circus with that fish:)

could you post a vid?

Sounds familiar. I havn't personally experienced this with my gouramis however. While doing my research I remember reading on the internet possibly wikipedia that when a male is sexually ready then it can act wierd.

There was a research test done on males who did this. The symptoms where similar to yours, such as nipping other fins circling the tank at a qucikend pace, generally as if the fish was nervous and rushing around like mad. However after after an hour and a half (on average) of this the fish would hide in the plants and become nervous. They couldn't come to conclusive reason but they did theorise that it was due to mating fustration.

Maybe your gourami is sexually active. You could try getting a female. Although the ratio for Gouramis is 1 male to 2 females.

Dont quote me on this as this is what I have read on a website many months ago.

Hope this is helpful.

If anyone has information say this is wrong then please post as I am also eager to know if this post is correct.
