You will see the fish I have in my 10g and the x-ray tetras don't ever eat the flake food I offer them but the red eyed tetras gobble it up. The x-rays will just stay at the bottom motionless while the other fish are getting the food. But the x-ray tetras seem to like and eat the corys food which is sinking wafers and they seem to get at most of it before the corys have a chance even though I split the wafer into three parts and spread it out through the tank. Why are they refusing the flake food?

Maybe...they just dont like it?
Fish are picky. Go to your LFS and spend $15-$20 on a bunch of small containers of different food. This is a good investment...

But they never even came up once to taste it and its the same food they feed them at the lps.

Well, they have to be eating somthing if they look healthy, and are active, and even if they've been alive for more than 15+ days...

Like I said they eat the algae wafers I feed my corys. But they aren't that active when the light is on but only move very little on the bottom when its off.

I feed them once a day with only a small amount of small flakes. One question, what does anorexic mean?

They don't look under weight they just refuse to come to anywhere near the top of the tank, they just eat the corys food. Will they be ok if they only eat the algae wafers?

I feed my tetras dried fry foods, my neons rarely ever come up to the top of the tank to feed but instead just wait near the bottom for the filter to start blowing the food towards them in the current, i've been feeding my neons small quantitys of fry food for years now while i feed the other fish their foods and they are all thriving, havn't lost any neons for the almost 2yrs, so i know they are eating well.
I feed my neons dried liquifry no.3 which all the fish love and it looks like finely crushed fish flakes, although TetraMinfry is also good and more readily available in local fish stores- you only need a very, very small pinch of these foods to feed your fish as they are very nutritious :) .

Ok, thanks. But since I'm a little straped on cash will they live and thrive on the algae wafers?

No they won't live long and definatly won't thrive on algae wafers, they are not algae eating fish by nature, fry foods do not cost much and will last for months with the amount of fish you have, don't get the liquid fry foods as the tetras won't be interested in them.

My black neons, who ive had for two years, do not come to the top of the tank at all. I hardly ever see them eating the flakes and freeze-dried bloodworms they are usuall fed. They dont appear to be eating at all, and they appeared to be spawning a while ago. But they pig right out like a depressed bulimic elephant when frozen food is offered. Try that, or just monitor them when theyre being fed and watch for them to eat the tiniest pieces of food. Fry food is really good also.

Most of my community fish refuse to eat flake food from the surface as well. However, when I take a pinch of flake food and move it underwater, so it gets soaked and sinks right away, they will eat it. Giving that a try couldn't hurt :)

 My angle fish are greedy little things, they eat the flake food at the top, then the algae wafers at the bottom
