Hi.
I have a ~48L/13G planted aquarium. I got my betta and corrys in October, and a week and a half ago introduced another corry and shrimps without issue.
All water parameters are within normal ranges, and no ammonia spikes have occurred. The only other change in my aquarium was that my light broke, and I had to get a new (different) one.
That day and the day after, my betta wasn't eating. I thought maybe she got a taste for the shrimp, but I see now that wasn't the case. The second day of this, I noticed one of my old Corys flashing.
I went away for the weekend (didn't have a choice) and left my roommate to feed them. Which went fine, the betta ate normally until the last day i was away when she messaged me he hadn't eaten, and she didn't see any flashing at all from the Corys. She also mentioned the betta was swimming normally and didn't exhibit any odd behaviours. I came back yesterday, did a water change and all the water tests, and everything was fine, but I noticed that later in the evening, my betta was hiding a lot, which is unusual for him, as he is very curious and often comes to see what I am doing. This morning I woke up, and he was dead, and my cory was flashing again.
I am worried my corrys will also die, but I just don't understand what has gotten the betta killed since it wasn't the water, or the temp. None of them have spots like ich, she wasn't pineconing... I just don't know...
I got some eSHa 2000 over the weekend, but I am worried it will affect my invertebrates and the corys.
Someone who has had bettas, tell me if something like this ever happened to you, and if you were able to figure out what happened.
