Why Are You All So Nice ?

When I look at some of the tank pictures in the members picture section I think 'that looks boring/rubish etc' but people always give very positive responces !!

Are you all being honest or just kind ?

i wouldn't dream of coming out and just saying 'yuor tanks rubbish' even if i don't like it, either say nothing or offer some constructive criticism

although saying that i felt really bad last week, my neighbour got a new fishtank, a juwel rio 260 (i think) so i popped in to have a nosey at it, commented on how rubbish the standard filtration is and recommended that he upgraded it. he looked really dissapointed I felt awful

Watch out, there are a few truely awful people on here sometime. Personally I find it hilarious when you do get an obnoxious person putting their 5 eggs in then the cavalry come to your rescue and the thread goes all over the place. When all the feather (i mean gill) puffing subsides, someone gets the thread back on course.

Constructive criticism is always appreciated when I put pics up, as long as its constructive and not outright inflamatory

If I see a tank I like I'll give credit where it's due.
If I see a tank I don't like but it is obvious that someone has put a lot of effort in, I'll give credit where it's due.
If I see a tank I just don't like then so be it. I keep my trap shut. Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the beholder - it's a personal thing.
If I see a tank and spot something amiss, regardless I'll mention it.

It's good therefore, to post pics of your tank.

Oh, & if the tank is bloody amazing you'll see a response from me like 'Show-off', 'Big head', 'Attention whore', or my personal fav: 'Utter Crap Mate!'.

I just can't imagine what the purpose would be of posting something insulting about somebody else's tank, other than to make oneself feel big and clever by trying to make someone else feel small and silly. Not particularly admirable.
My idea of "ugly" is no more valid that the next person's, so there is no earthly reason for me to go around hurting feelings with it.

Constructive criticism, or pointing out a feature that might be dangerous or disadvantageous to the occupants would be OK - but frankly I don't personally feel I know enough to even be doing that.

So if I can't say something nice, I don't say anything at all.

just rember that every tank will appeal to soe people more then other

some people like the plain minimal setup in ther tank and other like built up tanks

really i think most tanks are fine no matter how ther set up aslong as the fish they are keeping in it will be happy because is that not whats its mostly abouyt happy fish because a sad fish normally ends up a dead fish

If i see a tank thats just drop dead, out of this world, Fan Blimming tastic, then i would give good comments.
If i see a tank which someone has put a lot of effort into, then i would say, good effort.
If i see a tank which is plain ugly, then i'd say nothing, or be a dark horse and say, "Well its deffinatly unique "Top marks!"

If i saw a tank that had something blatently wrong with it and it was going to harm the fish, like a tank being overstocked, or a barand pile of sludge , then i'd say constructive criticism.

If i saw one tiny little thing that i wouldnt have done, then i would suggest something in a PM. I'd never burst someones bubble though.

So miss wiggle, your tank is deffinatly unique. A plant flowering in your tank! Thats Fan blimming tastic! (i love being cheeky)
