As it says in the title really - I 'inherited' some brown ramshorn snails from the person I got my cherry shrimp from (along with mayfly nymphs, cladrophora algae and duck weed...) initially I only had 1-2 of them but as they do I got a number of babies from them which had been quite a stable source for my pufferfish while I let the population grow in the little tank. Now though I've got maybe 8 adults but not getting any babies through for a while now and I could do with a solution... I don't really want to introduce new snails to this tank as these brown ones dont seem to touch the plants where as some blue and pink ones I've had in the past have decimated it.

Do I maybe need to up the feeding? I suppose when they were breeding the tank was fishless and only a handful of shrimp in there compared to the army now present.

Hello. Never heard of someone with too few snails. I would not increase the food. That can lead to water chemistry problems. You could get some pellet food and occasionally drop three or four into the tank. This should increase your snail population.

The snails are either heavily inbred, in which case they are going to slowly die off due to lack of new genetics. Or lack of food, or a dirty tank.
How often are you feeding them?
Put an algae wafer or bottom feeding pellet in each day.

Is there algae in the tank for them?
If there is no algae, increase lighting a little bit to encourage some algae to grow.

Make sure the tank, filter and substrate are clean to maximise snail production.
