I have a batch of Molly fry born on 28/03/07, why is there such a massive difference in their sizes, some are around 2cm+ and others are only around 1cm? Why?

I don't know anything abt mollies, but with my first lot of guppy fry, some seemed to be significantly bigger than others, now they're getting colorful, I can see the bigger ones are the females.

Ahhh so it could be sex related, that's interesting, I might see if I can see if there's any difference in sex, tho' they're still very small!

Hmmm too hard to tell they're too small, some of the bigger one's definately look female tho.

same think happened 2 me :) i got 3 fry (was more but nature took its corse) the 2 femails reached aduly hood in a matter of months and the male it still only about 2cm lol

when i had guppie fry two were massive and the other two are small. i now have balloon molly fry i got 11 born on 20th april 07

some of them may just be slow growers, it happens with fish, aswell, there may be a more dominant one in the group or a few dominant ones that get most of the food before the other fry do, that's how it was with my Texas Cichlids before when they bred.

Also, what size tank you have can effect the growth rate, along with water temperature, water quality and if you have other tank mates.

Nah not the tank, it's plenty big enough and the water is fine and they get plenty of food so I think maybe it could be a combination of sex and some just being bigger pigs than the others!
