I have just had the quickest introduction to raising fry , I only noticed my lab holding about 2 days ago quickly set up my 20g added the spare filter from my main tank ( all ways keep a spare running in case this ever happened ) put the lab in and she spat this morning.

Good work, don't be too dissapointed if they lose the 1st batch, this is very common with Mbuna and especially labs. Think of it as a practice run.

Well im back home and have 16 fry all looking healthy and eating, The mother is back in the main tank and is also eating, normally i would have left the yellow labs to spit in the main tank but as ferris said its practice for when my wild caught fish hold , f1 afra red top and f1 zebra long pelvic fry might start to get some credit back at lfs.

While your on here ferris do you think these may cross breed yellow lab-membe deep female.

It's certainly possible with Mbuna, there is always that risk but there is no definitive answer.
