I just found out my female will launch her entire body out of the water to grab food! I was holding a bloodworm over the tank and a tiny part was dangling down an inch or two over the water. My betta leaped out of the water and grabbed the food!!!!
Luckily my tank is one with a cover!

Even so, I havent heard of a betta launching it's entire body out and being so accurate grabbing food. I might make a video of it.

yeah mine does this and it scares the hell out of me
if a pellet gets stuck on the inside of feedy hole she jumps 3 or 4 times until she gets it, or gives up :hey:

make sure you keep tank covered all the time :X

Our girls are the worse ones for jumping too. Even if the food is floating on the suface they launch themselves out of the water.

yup mine do even when food is floating

seen them launch themselves onto the lids of floating breeding traps, and then flip back off of it again too

The dogs think there is someone knocking at the door but it's the girls thudding against the lid of the tank   They are all mad

ibble watch urself for balto, hes had my fingers a few time lol!!

rayne does this, but only for blood worms, not for pellets. she scared the crap out of me the first time she did this.
