My indian almond leaves arrived just not.... didn't realize they would be MASSIVE as big as my hand massive....  My tank is 60 litres... do I really put one whole leaf in there or should I maybe half it?

I didn't know they were that big either! They are huge! Saw them yesterday when I went to my landladys house. I like them when they are whole, put one in and see how it looks, if it's too big then half it.

YOu could try scrunching one up? It would look a bit more natural than a nice neat scissor cut down one edge.

I would cut them up into the size you want.  With bettas, it is good to leave them as intact as possible.  The betta will sometimes play or lay on the leaf until it sinks.

I think I'll just go with a crisp line down the middle since it is easiest.

How long does it take to add color to the water?

It should start releasing the tannins immediately so don't be surprised if in 24 hours your tank is a nice tea color.

I'm thinking it might off set his color nicely... maybe his shininess will stand out against tea colored water.

If you don't like the look of the leave then you could always shred it up and put it into a teabag or something. You could then place that inside the filter.
