I had a couple of Apple Snails........got from a member of this forum (thanks).

Lovely they were.........one reddish/purple.........the other a white/yellow........they have been in our tank with Some Mollies, Serpea Tetras, a Bristlenose and two Synodontis Cats.

Came down this morning to find our snails had "moved out" :-( :byebye:

I have my suspicions..........they have lived together for months........and suddenly the pressure just became too much........ :-(

Bye bye snails......... :byebye:

A real nice catfish at that! Snails are quite sensitive too water quality, and i think that may have been the cause. If not, my money is on the catfish!

Yes blame the fish...now let me ask you...have you had escargo lately?

....I check the water quality fairly regularly and that is/was fine................

........however, as soon as the Catfish touches anything with his antennae/feelers/whatever, he can taste it and moves VERY quickly to whatever it is.

........he has done this in the past to the snails and they have always been too fast and "shut" themselves in......with no problems......he (well, they.......as I have two of them) can't fit the shell into his mouth and couldn't get his downward facing mouth into the shell entrance........

.........however.........it appears that he managed to get one.........then liked it so much........he took the other........... :byebye:

I have another tank cycling that he is going into soon.............

EDIT.........Tank........no way...just couldn't face eating snails......noooooo waaaay.... :p

what size tank are they going into? They get fairly big but they are very majestic and worth having a tank with them as the "centrepiece" :)

Ben

It is a 24 x 24 (well, water height will be about 20) x 12.

Currently cycling.......sand on the bottom......running an Eheim 2215.......

I want this to be a bit of a "show" tank..........so don't want it to be a community set up.........just want several larger fish.......(not too huge......obviously).......

.........open to suggestions.......
