Calm down! I'm not going to kill him, but listen to this. I get a phone call this morning from a guy who has two 75gal complete setups for sale. He wants $75 for the pair :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I'm soooooooo excited and I run to tell Dan.

From the title of this topic, you can probably guess what he said! :sly: :sly:

Don't worry, I won't give up :shifty: :shifty:
Any suggestions? I don't know how to pass on a deal like that!

I never really understood why a spouse would be so particular about how a couple square feet within the house are going to be used. I mean, what's he concerned about? The cost of what would go into it?

The thing is that These two would most likely go in my fishroom/birdroom which is an offshoot of the garage (heated). I think he's been in there maybe 3 times in the three years we've lived here. I shouldn't have even told him, but I didn't think it would be a problem ya know?

Too bad I'm not psycho buff...I'd move those tanks myself :flex:

I'm mad right now, but don't worry.......I'll get them :shifty:

Buy them, and then deal with the hubby. Or ask the seller to keep them for you for a bit. Send the hubby away for a weekend, and bring home the tanks! Maybe he'd never notice the new additions :shifty:

What are his arguments for refusing you? Do you not have the spare $$$ to accomodate startup costs? Yeh, we justify it by saying it is only $75 for two good size tanks (and that is a great price, no doubt) but he must know that there will be hidden costs for substrate, decor, etc. Does he think you don't have time to care for more tanks? What approach you take to attempt to change his mind is dependent upon his specific objections. When he explains his objections, for just a moment before you launch your argument, consider that he may have a valid point. If you think you really can handle it monetarily or timewise, then set about proving that to him. Especially consider if he says no simply because he wants you to spend that time with him instead of your tanks. Perhaps find a way to minimize the attention the tanks would require.

He's worried that they will somehow cause problems or responsibilities for him. Such as when our last 150 cracked and spilled water all over the carpet. He's just pointing out that you never know what could happen and he doesn't want the added stress.

I asked him if someone was selling two computers for five bucks would he get them? He said that's not the same.

I'm working on it...He already said awhile back I could get two more, one was a 125 and the other was a 40, so I don't know what the deal with two 75s is, he'll come around :p

Keep working on him:
Sometimes a family member does not understand how deep our fish passion runs

My mom was like: "why do you need another tank? you already have that big 20gal"

Hello?? Big...
they don't get it sometimes but when she sees a pretty big fish and I tell her how sad it would be in a small tank she is like..."oh, you don't want the fish to be unhappy, maybe a bigger tank is best"

they come around
;)

YOUR GOING TO GET THAT TANK! :D

yeah! you are going to get that tank, as CC sed get him off the weekend put the tanks in the garage and... if he never goes there he wont notice but when he finds out that you have them or better you tell him that you have them, you could say you got them cheaper as the seller wanted to really get rid of them....also.... is YOUR garage, i believe that cuz the fish-bird room...that sounds like your property! i hate when ppl gets like "its not the same" its their hobby, and this one is yours, he has to respect that! so buy them.... and trust me...when things has to happen, they happen .... so if those tanks have to crack up someday in your house.......THEY WILL!, but good luck steph :)

Just buy them and when the truck pulls up with the tanks and he looks out the window whack him over the head with a frying pan. When he comes too it'll be too late :) I doubt you would get in much trouble either since its a woman hitting a man. Now if I did that to my gf it'd be another story. Too bad

I agree you should have them but the computer thing is a bit far off. Consider that short of catching fire they won't cause nearly the mess. However I feel your pain. I have 4 tanks now and it's gonna explode when I finally move. The only thing keeping me from getting more tanks is I don't wanna have to move them. I also am a network admin. so I have like 8 computers minimum that run all the time. If someone called me about 2 75g tanks my wife would hear the door slam shut on my way out to get them :D
