Went on a walk last week and found two minnows stuck in a tiny puddle no where near a pond or lake of any kind. I assume they got washed down from somewhere during a rainy week we had. Figured they had a few days before they would be high and dry. So I caught them and honestly didn't expect them to survive either way. One is still alive and seems to be coming around. So now the question of what is it? Its clearly native fish. Knock yourselves outs.

Ok... well... after going cross eyed at many photos, i have found thebest PDF file ever :p

And narrowed it down to three possibilities :)

Notropsis heterolepis (Blacknose Shiner)
Notropsis heterodon (Blackchin Shiner)
Notropsis anogenus (Pugnose Shiner).

Cant see learly from photos but I would say that as the Pugnose Shiner is endangered... its less likely... and the Blackchin Shiner as a more pointy mouth.... my educated guess would be N. heterolepis (Blacknose Shiner).

What do I win? :fun:
