over the past few days i have noticed thick bubble nests being formed around my tank!

and i don't know who is the culprit, as far as i know i havn't got any bubble nesting species but i could be very wrong!

Its my 28 gallon in my sig [no male bettas in that tank]

could anyone help?

Assuming you havnt introduced any soap residue via your hands into the tank (it's easy to do!), the only species I have read that bubble nest from your list is Betta's.

Bear in mind I have no experience with your tank, and only male Betta's bubble nest (from reading) ready for the female and you have no male in the tank, I can only think that the females are doing it instead of the male!! Could happen I guess. Never heard of this before so could be a complete one off.

Its most likely your hoplo :good:.

Look them up, they build some pretty great bubble nests (seen them before, seem more robust than betta bubble nests).

Female bettas have been known to build bubble nests on rare occasion, but not the kind that would be readily noticed in a 28 gal.

Congrats on looking after the hoplo well, if you ever feel like breeding them, try to source a female of similar size. Males have thicker pectoral fins :good:.
