Who Is Stealing My Fish?

When I was upgrading my tank last year I found a dried up, rock hard neon tetra inside the cabinet underneath the tank. It was like a little ornament

Also, when I used to have guppies I came home from a weekend away to find only one guppy out of five alive in my tank. One was dead on the tank floor, the other three just dissapeared

Wellllll .... I just took apart one of the filters and looked everywhere inside it. Lots of gunk, but no fish, dead or alive.

I think it's going to come down to tearing down this tank anyway. Not because of the missing fish but because of the black beard algae that's trying to take over. When I took apart that filter I found it all over the intake tube. Yech.

I doubt I'll ever figure out what's happened to the Houdini fish.

But I appreciate all the responses!

Update ... the CAE has been moved to his very own 10 gallon tank, at least until I can get the fry moved into it, then it's going to the 5 gallon. Took me 45 minutes to catch it!!

I would rehome it asap,its unfair keeping it in a 10gal let alone a 5 gal...

I'm working on rehoming it. In a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, this is not an easy task.

So aside from the common pleco's eventual size, why should I get rid of it? I've always loved them and never had an issue with them (besides the two-foot long poop trails!).
