Who Is Eating My Snails?

Gibby
Common plec
Bala shark
Albino red finned shark (nippy little bugger)
Gourami
Mollie
Guppies
Platties
Danios
Frog
Corys

Someone is eating my snails. I deeply suspect my gibby is getting on their shells and rasping a hole in them - but would he then eat them?? ewww - and to think that I hand fed him last week.

Of course I would rather have the fish then the snails so no one is leaving over this, but it's a shame that they have decimated my snail population in a few weeks. I can't take the snails out because my only other trop tank is sand - and the snails hate the sand.

It could be the gourami, but probably not, I dont think its the plec but I guess its possible

I've heard of plecs sucking the snail out of the shell, and heard of them cleaning their shells, but not actually going through the shell.

I'm not sure about the albino redfin shark, but they are nasty gits sometimes *lol*.

...but he's so tiny and the snails were so big.

I think the plec is eating through the shells and someone else is coming for the fresh meat. Yuck. Snail meat.

I suspect everyone, the only ones I can guarantee is wasn't is my hatchets

snails don't have any problems with sand. All my apples and nerites live on sand no probs.

My puffer killed a snail in my tank then decided it was too big for him so my pleco cleaned it up he loved it! the shells still whole though as it just sucked it out. But plecos like snails

Yeah I think it's Malc, I've seen him sucking shell before.

Regarding the snails, my apples totally freaked out when I changed to sand, they hung at the top of the glass and wouldn't come down.
