Whitespot

Hi,

Glad you're back up and running again :)

Guess the first question would be...what size is your tank?

p.s. I adore Cories, have now got 12 of them in my tank - first thing in the morning they're all along the front of the tank like a police line-up !

Hi Kim, it's a Deep duo 800. I think it holds about 30 Gallons. I am very nervous and keep looking at the fish for spots. I guess once they have been in there for a week or so i will chill out a bit more.
My Cories are certainly very lively, they never stop.

There's a pretty cool site called thinkfish (co.uk) that has a community creator where you add the dimensions of your tank and add your current fish to it, then you can browse other types of fish and see their compatibility with your current fish and tank size, and get more info on them.

Failing that, have a good look round some shops and see which fish catch your eye and then look into them for compatibility.

Think everyone has their own favourite fish, especially for centrepieces....Angels/other Cichlids, Gourami's etc.

Exciting to be able to start a new tank - I would love a third tank to do something different with.

Hi Silverlady,

I'm sorry to read about your loss. I am also new to fish keeping and I have my first white spot case as I write. I am checking for spots every few hours, its horrible to watch them. I have put Interpet No6 Anti Whitespot+ into the tank but I think this has killed my 12 shrimp as I have not seen them for couple of days. They are/were Japonica Shrimp. Does anyone know if they will be okay with the treatment? I have also increased the temperature of the water to 27c. Is this the a good idea?

I hope somebody out there can advise please?

Hi dazussdi, My 3 Shrimps came through 6 weeks of Treatment, high temps, no lights etc , with flying colours, nothing seemed to worry them.
I was advised to put the temp up to 80, and not to put the lights on.

oh right okay my temp is on 81 but with lights on staying at same temp. I would like to see one of the shrimp just to put my mind at ease but no luck so far.

to be honest no i havent seen not one of them and had 12 of them. i have 2 big mother plants of java i think you call it so maybe there in there.

Okay have put 2nd intepret dose into tank is that it now for the whitespot or do you put more into the tank please in 4 days i havent had to do this before please help. How is the tank going silverlady have you got more fish in it yet.

Can't help you with the Interpet stuff as it had no effect on my Whitespot at all. I did actually use two sets of doses .
Have you noticed any improvement yet.
I have added 3 Cory Arcuatus,i think their common name is Skunk Cory as they have a black line from their eyes down to the tail, i think Bandit Cory would be more appropriate as they look as though they are wearing masks.

okay thankyou though sounds good that you are getting your fish back :) skunk loaches look nice dont know about corys. Think all fish are cured except my puppys (clown loach) one seems to be spotty still near his head. Shrimps are missing in action still.
