White Worms In Spounge Filter Help!

I recently purchased a small spounge filter for my 10 gallon fry tank. Im doing a fishless cycle and about 3 days later there are small white worms living in the spounge filter and crawling around in the tank. What are they and how can I get rid of them? Has anyone experience this before? Please help! Thanks

they are most likely harmless planaria, and won't be the last unknown thing you see crawling around in your tank...
Are you cycling using food, cuz that will probably make lots of them. If your using ammonia they should not be a major issue.

Yes I am using food. Thats actually when I started to see them. Im thinking about taking my filter out, washing it, do a water change to suck them up and start over. What do you think?

If they are harmless, think of them as special treats for scaled friends, if they are lucky enough to spot them!

The worms actually look like a tiny white maggots with each end having some sort of black spiney tip. they dont swim the just flop around and look like maggots.

Ewww. I might have to move my tank from near my bed before I get fish. I'll be awake all night with thoughts of worms that might appear in my tank jumping out and down my throat in my sleep
