hi ive been reading about white spot on the forum and most people say to 1/2 dose for certain fish? can you tell me what fish are ok for full dosage ? and what for 1/2 dosage
1/2 dose- plecs, clown loaches? cheers in advance. ps this is just curiosity on my part for knowledge. :good:

usually 1/2 dosage is for scaleless fish and tetras I believe. It should tell you on the bottle. My dojo loaches did fine with a full dose but I could have just gotten lucky as I'm rather new to fish myself.

The more sensitive fish are often treated with a half strength dose of treatment for ich. There is a good description of the disease itself and its treatment in a link from my signature area. The real experts are the people who put together that thread on the other end. Please read through the article marked by my link to Ich Info and return with questions. IIRC they refute the concept of scaleless fish and instead talk about fish sensitive to the treatment.

i got told once as this was a recuring event every 2 weeks, that i sould put a dose in 1.5 and turn the heater up to 29c as this may kill the odd fish but it also kills the white spot. i also know from my local vet that the stuff u get off the shalf is not very strong and they can give u one that is twice as strong and u use the same amount. i think this is a very gray area around white spot as if u do not treat it it kills the fish and if u do then it may kill the fish as well. so in the past i have taken the advice i was given and it worked i lost 2 guppys after i put a 1.5 dose in and put the temp up to 29 for 2 days, this was nothing pair to what i could of lost about 200pounds worth of fish. i have just rang my local vet to ask advice (a good frend) and he say if u are going to do the white shot treatment then treat for 1 day normal amount on bottle and the next day 1.25 the amount and then 1.5 of the amount, also turn the temp up by 2c a day to 29 and then leave it there for 2 days. it is a fact in kepping fish that u will get whitespot the way i look at it is u are going to lose fish 1 way or a nother u just have to decide weather u wont it gone from the tank or if u wont to treat it more gentley and this will give u the same problem as i had were u will keep getting it every 2 weeks or so.
hope this helps
ps ask were u bought your fish from witch one they use and then buy a differant one as the whiteshot can get usedto one type. there for the treatment not wotking at all
:good:
