My 10gal tank I have 6 adult platies and approx 7 4day old fry. I have 2 males and 4 females bought in threes from 2 different fish stores.

Since the fry arrived 2 of the adults have been showing signs of disease, one adult male appears to have whitespot and an adult female (from the same shop) seems to have finrot

So what should I do? I don't have an isolation tank. We do regular 20-30% water changes and feed a mixture of flake and frozen foods.

Which should I treat first? Or is there something that will treat both at once?

I do plan to get a hospital tank but that still won't help this time as both diseases are now present in the 10gal anyway so the whole tank needs treating for both.

Thanks

Hi there,
Treat the white spot with a medication from your lfs, I would recomend the interpet one, or the king british cure. Both have worked well for me in the past. Melefix should be used at the same time for the fin rot. Melefix is made by API, and is a plant baced remedy. This means that is safe to mix the meds, as the active ingredients in both are different, and will not react with each other. Melefix should clear the fin rot within a forghtnight, same as the whitespot treatment realy.

Thanks for that. Off to the LFS then! Hopefully have healthy fish again soon.
